CHAPTER ONE

1.0 INTRODUCTION 

Communication has been variously defined by communication experts, while erudite scholars and educationists, with each of them defining it in accordance with his field of specialized areas of interest and prejudices. This therefore accounts for why there has not been one singular acceptance definition of what communication presupposes for instance, it has been viewed as a act of sending or conveying and understandable information from the sender to the receiver through an appropriate channel, with the speakers responding to such a message in form of feed back

1.1 PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

The ultimate reason for this project work are enumerate have under.

First and foremost, to determine the impediments or rather inadequacies of effective communication and suggest holistic ways through which such impendent can be eliminated so that profitability many given business organization could be adequately enhanced.

Again, to make an in depth expository study about how the stamina and profitability level of any given business organization can be raised through effective communication networks among the workers, the organization itself and their collective relationship with the outside world, not minding what can stand as an obstacle.

This discusses and evaluates various communication model and acceptance theories that see to how use of good commutations to influence positivity performance of personnel or rather workers.

Another reason for this study is to examine whether communication which have the inherent ability to positively influence personnel and profitability of the any given business organization can adequately stand the test of time.

Finally, the purpose of the study will to some extent help to suggest recommend and preferred solutions were necessary so as to nip in the bud any possible. Impediment and obstacles that jeopardize easy and good flow of communication network in any business organization, association of like-minded people many given geographical location.

1.2 SCOPE OF THE STUDY

The scope of this research work is to cover what indeed constituted good flow or communication among personal of any given business organization and how some can be applied to enhance and improve and organization profitability with special reference and restrictions to telecommunications service providers in Nigeria, Sequel to some factors that can any may affects the scope of the study.

1.3 LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

This project work faced a lot of constraints ranging from the decent of data collection and other factors which can be describe as:

Time Constraint: This has been one of the major factors that influenced to some extent, researching to gathering some useful diatom, statistics and figures study. The time frame is not adequate enough to warrant details, since completion of the project work itself have time schedule which of course, if not being adhere to will receive serve penalty which in the final analysis can render the whole exercise a futile one.

Financial Constraint: this has been another major factor that influenced and affected the study negatively; finance which is very much paramount for the effectiveness of any project work is limited in supply. Hence sequel to this limited and inadequate supply of finance, much could be researched into as it is expected and this formed the basic reason for scanty information in some topical subsection.

Uncooperative Attitude of Some Staff: Some staff of the telecommunication services provider visa-visa MTN, GLOBALCOM, ZAIN periodical in nature to divulge some useful information about their organization and when they are ready to do so. They do not have convincing accurate information to divulge.

1.4 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY  

The use of communication in any business organization can never over emphasize. The reason is because invariably have direct effect on the profitability of such business organization, Gold communication network equally created and important avenue for people i.e the workers in such organization to have a good rapport and inter-personal relationship which will to some extent help in razing formidable stamina of such organization in view of the above therefore, the study is very much important and relevant to any given business organization considering the effect communication networks post to nay business organization efficiency and profitability in the final analysis. Hence, smooth quick, importing and effective decision making can be set in motion out rightly jettison maladministration and brother necks as embedded in management basic functions which is decision making.

1.5 DEFINITION OF TERMS

The researcher will like to define what most of the abbreviated terms and concepts used in this project work mean. The introductory part of this chapter deals critically with the origin of communication basically in Nigeria there are some terms used in this chapter which I will like to define, first and foremost. .

P&T: Post and Telegraphs are the only means used in disseminating information before the Nigeria telecommunication came into existence.

NITEL: This simply means the Nigeria telecommunication. This is the widely recognized communication from in Nigeria later part of the 20th century in Nigeria.

NET: This simply means The Nigeria external telecommunication

GSM: Global System for mobile phones; with a specific mode of operation since the emergency of the GSM, the problem with reaching out to business associates, family members in long distance places. e.t.c has become the thing of the past. The light of MTN, Globalcom, Zain, Mtel, Etisalat, Multilink, Starcom and the host of the others made the operation of the GSM more effective and relevant because they provide the services of the choice of each subscriber.

NCC: Nigeria Communication Commission; this is a body that looks into the affairs of communication business in Nigeria/

CDMA: Code Division Multiple Access.

Dealer: These are people, who basically deal on telephones accessories; they also serve as distributions of the various products of telephones or mobile phones as the case maybe.

Vendors: These are the recharge cards sellers i.e Those who sell various recharge vouches of each service provides to its esteemed subscribes at their various prices.

GDP: This simply means, Gross Domestic Product.

Subscribers: These are the user of the services provided by each of these communication service providers.
