THE ROLE OF LEADERSHIP IN ACHIEVING ORGANIZATIONAL OBJECTIVES (A CASE STUDY OF AFRIBANK PLC ILORIN BRANCH)
ABSTRACT
The Case study of this project is Afribank Nigeria Plc.
Leadership is a key process in an organization to which we can attribute the success or failure of any organization. When a business venture is successful, it is the managing director who receives the credit body at the top that is blamed for it.
This project work will help the effective leaders to understand human relationship and take them into consideration when directing employees. It is also help to direct employee in such a way the good and objective are achieved.
The first chapter in this project will discuss the introduction and objective of the study. The significance of the study, scope and the limitation of the study and lastly, the definition of the terms.
The second chapter will be on the defined of leadership, nature of the leadership and it theories behavior of leadership the concept of management by objective, the advantages and implementation of management by objective the environment and problem in leadership.
The chapter three is based on the research methodology, primary source data collected secondary source of data collection and recording of the data processing and analytical techniques and finding in Afribank of Nigeria Plc historical background, data presentation and analysis.
The chapter four is dealing with hierarchy of Authority or level of management, finding the right “style” of managerial, organization objective and goal effect of in-service training on staff job performance.
The last chapter will only be on comprise the conclusion and recommendation.

CHAPTER ONE
1.1 INTRODUCTION
Leadership has probably been written about formally, researched and informally discussed more that any single topic. Through history, it has been recognized that the different between success and failure whether in a business or basketball games, can be largely attributed to Leadership. It is know to have a tremendous influence or human performance, but it’s inner working and specific dimension can not be precisely spelt out.
Despite these inherent difficulties a review of some of the widely known classis studies on Leadership can help to set a stage for the analysis at modern theories and styles of leadership.
Leadership is a key process in any organization. When a business venture is successful, it is the managing director who received credit. When failure occurs, it is usually the same individual at the top that is leadership series as the art of getting things done through other people instead of doing it himself. The essence of leadership is to influence other people.
If the right or quality are appointed into various position at different level in an organization, the issue of non performance by an organization would have been taken laid to rest because good leader would have taken a right decision either financially or otherwise in the course of attaining organization objective.
The concept of leadership is proposed by Kats and Kalin (year) they see it as applied to formally organized enterprises as “ the influence increment cover and above mechanical compliance with the routine directives of the organization design” these include supplementing the organization design with information necessary for person to perform their roles clarifying roles in view of the changing environment, and recognizing the fact that every role is part of an open social system that responds to change by being aware of the dynamics of an organized enterprise and interpreting them to those working in it and by making adjustment of human beings and desired contributions to goals.
History is repeated with instance of mediocre performance in the absence of Leadership and of super performance with every enterprise.
If it has other “make-work” goals that are its employees work with Zeal and confidence only them, can their morale e said to be high and they will achieve greater efficiency indeed, in competitive situation these condition are the way to preserve organizational existence. If it is true, as it is often said, that morale is three gainers of victory this mention of Leadership of therefore to include or persuade all subordinate goal in according with their maximum capacity.
1.2 OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
Every organization at its inception has set objective. And in its attempts to achieve the set of objective, the company engages the services of a good leader.
The success of the organization depend on the ability of the leader in the company to perform efficiently and effectively.
Therefore, the objective of this research strictly is to find out the leadership so as to be effective in organization.
1.3 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
Both private and public sectors will find those research work useful in their day-to-day operation and also in their choice of Leaders to various positions
This research work will also help the research to digest with great knowledge of what leadership is and the need to appoint the tight lead in an organization.
1.4 SCOPE AND LIMITATION

1.5 DEFINITION OF TERMS
Planning: This is a process that involves the selection of objectives and lying down proper procedures to ensure they are fulfilled.
Planning means decision making which is the process by which a course of action is chosen from a number of alternatives for the purpose of effective leadership in an organization.
Organizing: This is the process by which the manager establishes a structure of roles and allocate jobs that need to be performed in order achieved their goals.
Directing: This is the process by which the manager measures current activities of his subordinates, compare the with the set down standard of performance and correct any deviation so that the predetermined goals will be achieved.
Co-ordinating: This is to develop unity of action from common purpose.
Public Enterprises: The term denotes an organization operating on commercial principle whole or partly owner and effectively controlled by the public authority.
Private Enterprises: The term donates an organization operate on commercial principle risky owned and effectively by the private individual.
Staffing: This is identifying assessing placing evaluating and developing individual at work by performing such actions as resulting, selecting appraising and promoting individual since organization cannot function without people, staffing is a major managerial function.
Controlling: This involves the ability to prevent identify and correct deficiencies in all phase of the business operations. It includes the ability of the determination of performance interpretation of corrective actions for deviation from standard of goal.
Communication: This is the process by which information are transmitted to others for the purpose of effecting a desired result. This is both horizontal (down ward) and vertical (upward) display of information (down ward) and vertical (upward) display of information
Communication can be formal or informal ones follow lines of authority prescribed by an organization. Informal ones do not have to follow organizationally prescribed lines of authority.
Means of communication include oral, written and mixed regardless of types and means of communication noise can cause communication difficulties. Noise-ise defined as being any factor that limits or distorts massages.
Types of noise include filtering, selective perception, semantic jargons information over road, rumors and value Judgment so, Noise should be avoided as much as possible.
Motivating: This is the means by which the employees are inspired to work so effectively to achieved the objective of the organization. It is the driving force which carries out the plans of management through group enthusing
Workers are motivated to work not because of money alone, but also through non-financial incentives such as the state of human relations in the firms, quality of leadership and the attitude of management towards the employee as manifested by its personnel policies and programmes.
